• John V. Soto, the original scripter of THE OUTBACK, made his directorial debut on the psychothriller CRUSH alongside Jeffrey Gerritsen, from Soto’s script. Emma Lung, who’s becoming a genre regular with roles in TRIANGLE and the upcoming THE GATES OF HELL (no relation to the Fulci film) and CRAVE, plays a young woman who becomes dangerously obsessed with a disgraced martial-arts champion (Chris Egan)—whose skills may be no match for her. • Yet another Aussie flick, A NOCTURNE: NIGHT OF THE VAMPIRE, arrives on DVD from Troma June 29. Directed by Bill Mousoulis from a script he wrote with Ali Alizadeh, it follows a vampire couple, X and Z (Vanessa de Largie and Alex Spears), over one night of their nocturnal existences on the streets of Melbourne—where they discover they’re not the only hunters out stalking. The disc will also include a commentary by Mousoulis and retails for $14.99.
