A couple of weeks ago, we reported on Alan Goldsher’s upcoming novel PAUL IS UNDEAD: THE BRITISH ZOMBIE INVASION, in which the author reimagines the history of The Beatles with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr as zombies. Well, Goldsher is spinning another yarn that mixes monsters with musicians: FRANKENSTEIN HAS LEFT THE BUILDING. Elvis Presley as Frankenstein’s Monster? Don’t blame me, I’m just the messenger.

MTV reports that the project is still in early stages. Here’s what Goldsher had to say: “I am taking FRANKENSTEIN the book and rewriting it with Elvis Presley. The book takes place in the 1960s. It’s still the same format as the original FRANKENSTEIN, [with] Dr. Frankenstein relating the story to the ostensible narrator of the book.

“It’s going to be very close in terms of story arc,” he continues. “All of the same characters are going to be there, but it’s going to be written in a whole new voice. Our Frankenstein character, he’s from the South, just like [the real] Elvis.

“There’s a big overlap with the Frankenstein story and the Elvis Presley story in that they’re both fabricated entities. Frankenstein the creature is made from parts and Elvis was put together by really intelligent record label people. It could be argued that he was the first prefab artist. And then, both the creature and Elvis spent their lives looking for love and acceptance.

“Of course it’s going to be funny. It’s not going to be one-liner after one-liner like PAUL IS UNDEAD, but there’s definitely a light side to it.”
