Lionsgate Home Entertainment has revealed a DVD release date and details for UNDER THE MOUNTAIN, New Zealand director/co-writer Jonathan King’s follow-up to his recent cult fave BLACK SHEEP. The company also released cover art for its previously announced disc of the gorefest NEIGHBOR.
Based on the novel by Maurice Gee and scripted by King and Matthew Grainger (who previously teamed on the screenplay for THE TATTOOIST), UNDER THE MOUNTAIN follows teenaged twins Rachel (Sophie McBride) and Theo (Tom Cameron) as they move in with their aunt and uncle following their mother’s death. They soon hear local legends about the mysterious Wilberforce family and meet an enigmatic man named Mr. Jones (DAYBREAKERS’ Sam Neill), which leads them to discover the existence of monsters (created by FX artist Steve Boyle, also of DAYBREAKERS) dwelling below the nearby volcanoes. The disc, which streets August 10, will present the movie in anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, and include King commentary and a making-of featurette, with a retail price of $26.98.
NEIGHBOR is Robert C. Masciantonio’s grisly tale of a young woman (FRIDAY THE 13TH’s America Olivo) who moves onto a suburban street and begins torturing and murdering those living nearby. That DVD hits July 27 (the movie will be available for digital download that day as well), with two featurettes, behind-the-scenes interviews and outtakes; retail price on this one is also $26.98.
