Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist (pictured) created quite a sensation with his vampire novel LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, which was turned into Tomas Alfredson’s award-winning film of the same title (for which Lindqvist wrote the script). He more recently turned his attention to zombies with HANDLING THE UNDEAD, which now has a U.S. publication date.
Thomas Dunne Books, an imprint of St. Martin’s Press, will publish HANDLING THE UNDEAD September 28, with a list price of $24.99 ($29.99 in Canada). The story is set in Stockholm, where mysterious events surrounding the city’s power grid herald the rise of the recently deceased from cemeteries and morgues. Rather than a simple flesheating saga, Lindqvist’s story is a part-dramatic, part-satiric study of what happens when the departed return to their families. Thomas Dunne will also republish the author’s previous best seller August 31 under the title LET ME IN (its original Stateside moniker, before the film arrived), to tie in with the English-language cinematic remake, priced at $14.99.
