Producer: “HATCHET 2” is a sequel “on steroids”

While visiting the set of the Dark Sky Films/Glass Eye Pix production THE INNKEEPERS (see previous report here), Fango got a chance to chat with one of its producers, Derek Curl, about another upcoming Dark Sky feature, the eagerly awaited HATCHET 2. “I flew out to LA about three weeks ago to view the final cut before they locked, and I’m telling you, it’s quite a ride,” he tells us.

“We’re on schedule for our fall release, so that’s exciting,” Curl says of writer/director Adam Green’s follow-up to his popular backwoods slasher opus. “And I’m telling you, from the opening credits until that last scene before we cut to black, it is a ride like nothing else you’ve seen. And I’m not just blowing smoke—the kills are extreme, the blood is insane; Adam has really taken what he started in the original HATCHET and put it on steroids. From top to bottom, it is the bloodiest, goriest, funniest movie I’ve seen in a long time—certainly of any that I’ve been involved with. The murders are iconic, and [villain Victor] Crowley looks amazing. They’ve just turned it up a notch, and everything works; there isn’t going to be one disappointed fan.”

And to answer the next crucial question, Curl says, “I would imagine that yes, we’ll go out unrated [in theaters], so everybody will get to see what Adam intended.” Keep your eyes on this site and the pages of FANGORIA magazine for lots more on HATCHET 2.
