Aleksander Nordaas' imaginative, low budget update of a Norwegian folk tale is set to enchant the U.S.
Thale is the name of the titular Huldra, a beautiful forest creature in Scandinavian folklore that boasts an animal's tale and is known to be both gentle to humanity, as well as lure men into the woods for sex and slay those who aren't satisfactory. Nordaas' film finds two friends and crime scene cleaners who stumble upon Thale and learn her story.
THALE is coming from Xlrator Media's new Screamfest Label, named for Los Angeles' annual horror fest. Nordaas' pulls off a lot with his fairly intimate movie and creates a lovely, strange result. You can find THALE on VOD March 21, in select theaters April 5 and on DVD April 23.
