Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza’s [REC] 2 is boldly going where its predecessor didn’t go before: to American theaters. Magnolia Pictures opens it in select cities beginning July 9 through its Magnet Releasing arm, and has released a new poster, which you can see below the jump.

This time, Balagueró and Plaza send a team of heavily armed SWAT guys, led by a medical specialist, into the apartment house where ravenous infected folks lurk, the terrifying action presented through their helmet-mounted cameras. The movie’s official website address is www.rec2movie.com, though as of now that takes you to the original Spanish-language site. Look for an exclusive interview with Balagueró on [REC] 2 and his previous movie FRAGILE, an upcoming FANGORIA FrightFest release, in Fango #295, on sale in June.
