HAPPY days are not here again for the ABC series HAPPY TOWN. Ratings have been poor for the TWIN PEAKS-like series, and ABC has cancelled the show. However, the network will air the remaining episodes.
EW's The Ausiello Files reports that HAPPY TOWN is getting yanked off the air after this week’s airing. According to ABC, the show will be replaced with a primetime special on May 19 and a rebroadcast of TRANSFORMERS on May 26. Happy days will return on June 2 with the first of five remaining episodes.
HAPPY TOWN starred Geoff Stults as Tommy Conroy, Sam Neill as Merritt Grieves, Lauren German as Henley Boone, Steven Weber as John Haplin, Amy Acker as Rachel Conroy, Sarah Gadon as Georgia Bravin, Robert Wisdom as Roger Hobbs, Jay Paulson as Eli “Root Beer” Rogers and Ben Schnetzer as Andrew Haplin. The series centered on Haplin, Minnesota, “Happy Town,” which enjoyed an uneasy peace for five years, but all that changes. Still haunted by a number of unsolved kidnappings, the small town faces a dark new crime that brings all its unresolved fears to the surface. As Haplin’s mysteries are revealed, many of its prominent citizens’ motives come under scrutiny as their own secrets and personalities are peeled back one layer at a time…
