Indie filmmaker Richard Griffin and his cohorts at Scorpio
Film Releasing are seeing in 2013 by wrapping up production on their lucky 13th
feature, DR. FRANKENSTEIN’S WAX MUSEUM OF THE HUNGRY DEAD. Read on for more
details, a teaser trailer and photos, including a couple of exclusives.
Directed by Griffin from a script he wrote with Seth
Chitwood, the film is about, well, a wax museum of the hungry dead run by
everyone’s favorite mad scientist in Salem, MA. Michael Thurber, from Griffin’s
previous project MURDER UNIVERSITY, is Dr. Frankenstein, and the cast also
includes Jamie Lyn Bagley, Jesse Dufault, Shannon Hartman, Johnny Sederquist,
Aurora Grabill, Patrick Keeffe, Aaron Peaslee, Christopher Ferreira, Nat Sylva,
Ryan Hanley, Beatriz Lopez and Andre Boudreau. Eric Rodrigues and Jordan
Pacheco created the makeup FX.
“For my 13th feature,” Griffin says, “I decided to go back to my roots and make a small, atmospheric, Euro-tinged horror film in the vein of one of my idols, Jess Franco. I was so lucky to find this amazing location [Count Orlok’s Nightmare Gallery] in Salem, MA. My co-writer Seth Chitwood and I rapidly produced a screenplay in just a few days…and just a couple of weeks later, we were on set and shooting! So far, the shoot has been a dream. The cast and crew are just amazing, and every day our talented effects artists are creating bloodsoaked nightmares that I know the audience will just eat up!”
Check out the teaser trailer for DR. FRANKENSTEIN’S WAX MUSEUM below the photos. Scorpio also has DVD releases of MURDER UNIVERSITY (see our last item here) and EXHUMED (last item here) on tap for later this year; you can keep up on all the company’s features at its official website.
