RINGU and DARK WATER director Hideo Nakata’s latest film CHATROOM will be premiering at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and a trailer is now on-line. You can see it below the jump.

Here’s the CHATROOM synopsis from Nippon Cinema: “Based on a 2005 play by Enda Walsh—who also penned the screenplay—the film stars Aaron Johnson (KICK-ASS) as William, a seemingly charismatic young man who meets Jim, Eva, Emily and Mo on the Internet. When Jim confides to the group that he’s on antidepressants, William convinces him that he can get off the drugs with their support. However, it eventually becomes apparent that William simply intends to manipulate his fragile online acquaintance into harming himself. When the other members of the group finally realize this, they try desperately to get through to Jim, but William is able to wall them off from his victim. Eventually, William’s online game turns real as he’s forced to face Jim in person.”
