An early teaser, effectively a highlight reel of [REC] 1 & 2's most frightening moments, for APOCALYPSE is online.

What exactly will [REC] 4: APOCALYPSE be? Having broken off to helm the third installment alone, Paco Plaza unexpectedly delivered a splendid gory, romantic comedy in the form of [REC] 3: GENESIS. So, there's a general feeling of "anything goes" attached to Jaume Balagueró's own solo outing and seemingly final film in the series.

This preliminary teaser, which played Spain's acclaimed genre festival, Sitges in October aims to remind us of where we've been, namely the apartment building that housed the one-two punch of [REC] and it's sequel. APOCALYPSE is said to be another sequel, taking the virus out of the complex and into the streets (echoed by trailer's statement: "It's time to leave"), but does the focus on visceral terror of the first two films prime us for a return to that tone. Is it skirting GENESIS because of its content, or reception? Is Balaguero aiming to go out with a frightening bang? His prior solo filmography suggests he isn't very interested in a comedic nature.

Aullidos premiered the clip (h/t Shock Till You Drop).
