Danielle Harris’ directorial debut AMONG FRIENDS will soon
have a chance to make many more, as the movie has been picked up for Stateside
distribution.
Word just came down that Grindstone Entertainment has grabbed the U.S. rights to AMONG FRIENDS, with Lionsgate Home Entertainment to release it sometime next year. Scripted by Alyssa Lobit, who also co-stars along Christopher Backus, Jennifer Blanc (who produced with Athena Lobit), AJ Bowen, Dana Daurey, Brianne Davis, Kane Hodder, Kamala Jones and Chris Meyer, the film is about a dinner party that turns into a night of exposed secrets, betrayals and violence. “This is the perfect home for AMONG FRIENDS,” Harris says, “and I’m honored to have such well-respected distributors supporting me on my first feature behind the camera. This is just the beginning of many more to come!” Adds Blanc, “I’m so proud to be working with such strong, determined women and happy to present that package through Grindstone/Lionsgate.”
Hugh Edwards of Aspect/Chiller, who brokered the deal, says, “It’s fitting that after years of being in front of the camera, in a solid string of horror movies, opposite the likes of genre greats such as Michael Biehn, Brad Dourif and Malcolm McDowell, Danielle Harris’ directorial debut feature will get its domestic release with Lionsgate Home Entertainment through Grindstone.” And the latter company’s Stan Wertlieb says, “As a longtime fan of Danielle Harris, I eagerly anticipated her directorial debut; and she has really made a disturbing horror statement. One to remember and take note of.” Check out the trailer (with non-work-safe language) below and see AMONG FRIENDS’ official website here and Facebook page here.
