Steven C. Miller and Anchor Bay are gifting us with holiday horror this cheerful season.

A loose remake of SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT, Miller's (AUTOMATON TRANSFUSION, THE AGGRESSION SCALE) take stars Jamie King, Malcolm McDowell and Ellen Wong (who was wonderful in SCOTT PILGRIM). "As their small midwestern town prepares for its annual Christmas Eve parade, Sheriff (Malcolm McDowell) and his deputy (Jaime King) discover that a maniac in a Santa suit is murdering those he judges as naughty. Their sins? Porn, adultery, greed... And he will make sure they rest in heavenly pieces.”

In light of its namesake, SILENT NIGHT will certainly have a hard time topping the outlandish, gonzo soul of the 1984 original, a mainstay this time of year for many horror fans. Still, we're overdue for some outright, no frills, bloody Christmas terror and however you fall on Miller's previous work, he can certainly call up a mean spirit and revel in its path. Bonuses: A mini MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D reunion with King and Brendan Fehr and the seasonal lights look to give SILENT NIGHT some color! The film is out November 30, and coupled with that weekend's visually vibrant THE COLLECTION, should make for a neat, grisly, indie horror double feature.

iTunes premiered.
