Fango friend and CHAINSAW SALLY mastermind JimmyO Burril is about to unleash a live stage remount of his B Movie horror musical SILVER SCREAM....it's like A CHORUS LINE with creatures and it's 100% FANGORIA approved. JimmyO has offered to give us the first person making-of updates, starting with this one...

One month in and one month to go till show time, the cast of Silver Scream is becoming a lean mean horror machine.  Besides the normal vocal rehearsals and choreography, the 2012 Silver Scream Live cast is being taught a lesson in horror history.  I take great joy in bringing horror classics to my cast, whose ages range from 17 - 52. About half the cast is savvy in the old black and white flicks I grew up on, but the other half only know the films by name.  So each Friday night, we have a horror double feature.  We started with Universal’s DRACULA and THE WOLF MAN, and will work our way through BLOOD FEAST and THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE (1974). One cast member confessed to seeing the remake but not the original, and I almost had to ask them to leave.  We take our chainsaws seriously at the Burril house.

At its core, SILVER SCREAM is just that, a history of horror.  It presents musical versions of NOSFERATU, DRACULA, THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE and continues to the Slasher finale, Babysitter Blues.  I created the show with my partner James M. Taylor because of my love for classic horror and for Halloween.  The idea was simple, I was in my 30s and wanted to still have some fun at Halloween, so I made a place where I could not only dress up, but also act out my favorite characters.

Halfway to the home stretch, the show is taking shape; legendary monsters chasing beautiful girls, screams of terror, live blood, gore and violence all put to song. But don’t let the word musical throw you, this is by no means ANNIE.  Ironic use of verse and tune makes the show an original camp horror that runs wild with blood and sexuality.  It is a multimedia melting pot of performing arts, combining film, theater, music, acting and dance, two-thirds of which is presented in live black and white.

Updates and the behind-the-scenes video blog can be seen at Silver Scream Live on Facebook and tickets can be purchased online line now here.
