Another urban legend—or more appropriately in this case,
rural legend—proves to be violently true in the indie production HOGMAUL: THE
LEGEND OF ABRAMS COUNTY. Fango got a few exclusive early photos and comments
from writer/director Nap Bishop.
First up, the synopsis: “In rural Abrams County, a deadly legend has endured for over 50 years. Some residents claim that the stories of a murderous pigman named HogMaul are true, while others simply say he’s a myth, a local bogeyman. As people begin to vanish, frustrated members of the community decide to get to the bottom of the disappearances, as well as the tale of the hammer-wielding hog monster. Angry townspeople, lawmen and a beautiful cryptozoologist head for the dense forest in search of answers, and come nose to snout with the terrifying truth. Abrams County will never be the same again…”
“We love horror movies, and we want to make something other horror fans can embrace,” Bishop tells Fango. “Our goal is to work hard, have a great time and entertain like-minded scare freaks. If HOGMAUL makes you scream and laugh and cover your eyes, we will have done what we set out to do.”

HOGMAUL began shooting last month, with a wrap targeted for just before Thanksgiving. It’s lensing in South Central Pennsylvania, predominately in Adams County. “The area is not only the home of many of our cast and crew, but it also affords us acres of heavily wooded forest in which to shoot,” Bishop says. “We’re also filming on sets built by Jake Waybright of Waybright Construction. Cinematography is being handled by Brad Wanner, and the movie is produced by Katie Jones and ILL-Conceived Films. The stars include Davy Lantz Jr., Cori Coulter, Chrissy DelPrete and Jeff Miner, and music is being provided by Frankie Sykes and Chuck Bombs and the Beyond, among many others.”
Bishop goes on to tell us that HOGMAUL’s goriest bits have yet to be lensed, and that he’ll be providing us with some juicy photos once they’re done. In the meantime, watch the teaser trailer after the pics and find out more at the movie’s official website and Facebook page.
