Rob Zombie's witchy latest gets distribution.
I already know I'm an easy mark on THE LORDS OF SALEM. It's rooted in New England and witchcraft, and despite Rob Zombie's trajectory, he's proven himself as a spot-on visual stylist. Our own Phil Brown gave the film 4/4 and in addition to other reviews called on the hallucinatory, unnerving works of Polanski and Jodorowsky as touchstones. Hey now.
Deadline is reporting that Anchor Bay has nabbed the U.S. rights to the film about a DJ (Sheri Moon Zombie) who receives a record that triggers her own descent as Salem is besieged by a 300 year-old coven. No immediate plans were revealed, but Zombie said, “I have always been a fan of the care and respect Anchor Bay has put into their genre titles. I can’t wait to work together to bring this bizarre, special movie to the masses.”
