Blumhouse, currently aiming to be the leading production outfit in major horror, is expanding to the annual haunt scene.

Headed up by PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, INSIDIOUS, SINISTER producer Jason Blum, Blumhouse Productions announced yesterday its plan to open an L.A.-area Haunted House this October for all west coasters getting into the Halloween spirit.

Getting underway October 4 at the Variety Arts Theater, posing as a haunted theater "whose stage was home to one of the world’s most deranged dark-arts magicians during the heyday of 1920s vaudeville. That is, until one tragic performance when his assistant climbed into a magical box and vanished forever. The theater was shut down instantly and permanently closed to the public … until now."

Frightening groups of 15, Blumhouse of Horrors will operate from 6 p.m.-Midnight, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from Oct 4-Oct 28, and daily Oct 29-Nov 3.
