Hot off the popular road-show tour of his horror/musical multimedia show THE DEVIL’S CARNIVAL, Darren Lynn Bousman will see his latest fright feature THE BARRENS released in October. Read on for the scoop on the details and a first look at the disc art.

Anchor Bay Entertainment releases THE BARRENS October 9 on DVD and in a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack; the movie will also hit theaters through a combination of a limited release and additional big-screen showings based on fan demand via a partnership with Tugg. TRUE BLOOD’s Stephen Moyer stars in THE BARRENS as Richard Vineyard, a man who takes his family on a camping trip in New Jersey’s Pine Barrens, where he becomes convinced they’re being stalked by the Jersey Devil and begins to lose his sanity; the cast also includes 30 DAYS OF NIGHT: DARK DAYS’ Mia Kirshner, Erik Knudsen and Allie MacDonald.

The discs will present the movie in 16x9-enhanced 1.78:1 widescreen, with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound on the DVD and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound on the Blu-ray; extra features include commentary by Bousman and cinematographer Joseph White and a deleted scene. Retail prices are $26.98 for the DVD and $29.99 for the combo pack.
