The excellent 3D stop-motion genre feature PARANORMAN opens today from Focus Features and LAIKA, but fans at Montreal’s Fantasia festival got a sneak peek of the film August 7. The screening was followed by a Q&A with directors Chris Butler and Sam Fell, moderated by Fantasia’s Mitch Davis, and you can watch it in its entirety after the jump.

Butler also scripted PARANORMAN, in which a young boy (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee) in a new England town is an outcast due to his ability to speak to the dead—until an ancient curse and a plague of zombie threaten the village, with Norman the only one who can save them.
