Next week, NYC will play host to a special screening of Craig Zobel's unsettling tale of manipulation, COMPLIANCE. And Fango has 10 pairs of tickets for those looking to get extremely uncomfortable.
Inciting contentious Q&As at this past winter's Sundance Film Festival, Zobel's psychological horror takes inspiration from a rash of real-life events. "COMPLIANCE takes place on a particularly busy day at the local ChickWich, when the fast food joint's high-strung manager Sandra (Ann Dowd) receives a phone call from a man identifying himself as Officer Daniels (THE INNKEEPERS' Pat Healy), saying her employee Becky (Dreama Walker) has stolen money from a customer. Convinced she's only doing what's right, Sandra commences the investigation, following step-by-step instructions from the officer at the other end of the line, no matter how invasive they become."
Much of COMPLIANCE is incredible and intense. Zobel executes a serious exercise is discomfort, and to peer inside the plot and behavior under the pretense of authority, Magnolia is putting on a screening next Tuesday, August 14 in New York City with the filmmaker and star Ann Dowd in attendance for a panel/Q&A alongside Psychology Today editor-in-chief Hara Estroff Marano and psychologists Nando Pelusi, Ph.D. and Stanton Peele, Ph.D.
The night is set to be a stimulating and provoking one, and FANGORIA has ten pairs of tickets to throw your way. E-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with "I Comply" in the subject line and winners will be chosen at random.
