We’ve been waiting a while for Michael J. Bassett’s film version of Robert E. Howard’s hero SOLOMON KANE to appear Stateside, and now it’s finally got dates, plus a new trailer you can see after the jump.

Bassett, whose credits include DEATHWATCH, WILDERNESS and the upcoming 3D chiller SILENT HILL: REVELATION, scripted and directed the film, which hits VOD August 24 and theaters September 28 from The Weinstein Company’s Radius TWC arm. James Purefoy stars as Kane, a 16th-century British captain who leads his men in an attempt to plunder a castle in northern Africa. They are met by demonic forces that kill off Kane’s followers and lead him to renounce violence in an attempt to redeem his soul. That’s put to the test when he faces new evil forces in England and goes on a quest to rescue the daughter (Rachel Hurd-Wood) of a family he has befriended. Max von Sydow, Mackenzie Crook and Philip Winchester also star.
