FROM BEYOND director Stuart Gordon, who in recent years has turned his eye to acclaimed stage productions NEVERMORE and RE-ANIMATOR: THE MUSICAL, will now tackle both theatrical and cinematic takes on real-life German cannibal tale, TASTE.

Based on Armin Meiwes, the German gentleman who posted an online ad looking for a date to be willingly murdered and consumed (and whose story has been previously filmed as CANNIBAL and the FANGORIA FrightFest feature GRIMM LOVE), Variety reports TASTE will launch its first theatrical run next year, with production on the low budget feature to get underway following.

Playwright Benjamin Brand is adapting his own work for the film, and Gordon plans to utilize the same cast. As to the nature of the show, Gordon explains, "It's rare that real horror is done onstage. RE-ANIMATOR: THE MUSICAL is more comedic than scary. But 'TASTE may cause people to actually pass out or lose their lunch in the theater."
