The Filmax company has long been one of Spain’s top
producers of first-rate genre fare, and they aren’t slowing down. It’s got
three new English-language features gearing up to roll this year, including the
latest from Miguel Ángel Vivas (pictured), director of the terrifying
KIDNAPPED; read on for details and poster art.
Variety reports that Vivas will helm I WILL DIE TONIGHT, from a script by Alberto Marini (writer of Jaume Balagueró’s SLEEP TIGHT, coming later this year from Dark Sky Films). The movie is a revenge thriller centering on a man who has been framed for murder; the only witness who can exonerate him has vanished, and he soon discovers that the setup is part of a vicious revenge plot. The other two features are both casting, and will shoot in October in Canada. THE RETURNED, to be directed by EXORCISMUS’ Manuel Carballo from a screenplay by Hatem Kraiche, is about a nurse who works in a hospital’s Return Unit, attempting to return zombies to a human state—including her own husband. When Anti-Return sentiment among the public and government reaches dangerous levels, the couple go on the run. TORMENT is a home-invasion/slasher thriller about a family terrorized at their remote vacation home, directed by THE MARSH’s Jordan Barker and scripted by Michael Foster.
