As she first revealed in her cover story in Fango #314 (now on sale), horror star Debbie Rochon is stepping behind the camera to direct her first feature, MODEL HUNGER, this year. And she gave us a few exclusive words on what to expect from the project.

MODEL HUNGER is described as a “self-aware horror film” that depicts “what can happen when the industry pushes one woman too far and the horrifying domino effect that hacks, grinds, and amputates the unlucky women crossing her path.” Rochon tells us, “I am very excited and honored to be directing this delightfully demented and seriously ambitious film. The theme is body image, and it tells the tale of what happens to a woman who is shunned by a business that judges and uses women—desiring only females that are about a size zero. The bloodbath left in her anger-fueled wake is gruesome and graphic. There’s a healthy dose of black humor in MODEL HUNGER, but the gist of the feature will be a story that is unique and entertaining and has something to say.”

Scripted by executive producer James Morgart of WON TON BABY! and produced by SLIME CITY’s Gregory Lamberson and genre actress Shannon Lark, MODEL HUNGER is set to begin shooting this summer. “We will be rolling out the cast list in the near future,” Rochon says, “but suffice it to say we have everyone from underground punk-rock icons to classic and current horror-movie stars. There are so many talented folks working on this film, and I look forward to sharing all their names as we move forward!” You can keep up with the production via its Facebook page and also check out Rochon’s official website
