The Franck Khalfoun-directed redo of William Lustig's early 80s NYC sleaze classic is premiering at Cannes, and official stills have dropped.

Seen over at The Playlist, the photo of Wood looks like it may come from the scene that was spy-snapped filming last year. The others, meanwhile, highlight co-star Nora Arnezeder, and the eerie mannequin aspect, kept from the original.

MANIAC is produced by HIGH TENSION's Alex Aja. Here's the current synopsis: "Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank's obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill."

Said to have filmed the murders from Frank's POV, here's to hoping the P2 director has managed to capture any of the unsettling weirdness that floats around the 1980 film.
