Mel Brooks is returning to horror—and it’s not with a spoof in the vein of DRACULA: DEAD AND LOVING IT. The project is called PIZZAMAN—and no, SPACEBALLS’ Pizza the Hutt (pictured) isn’t the star.

Variety reports that the YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN director won’t be at the helm of this project, but will produce the movie under his Brooksfilms banner. “It’s a flat-out horror film that I’ll keep my name away from, in case people think it’s a comedy,” Brooks tells the trade. Brooksfilms has produced several genre features in the past, most notably David Lynch’s THE ELEPHANT MAN, THE FLY and THE FLY II. PIZZAMAN is being written by Brooks’ frequent collaborators Rudy De Luca and Steve Haberman.
