THE CROW and DARK CITY director Alex Proyas is headed into some very neato sounding territory with an adaptation of Robert A. Heinlein's 1942 novella, THE UNPLEASANT PROFESSION OF JONATHAN HOAG.

After seeing projects like PARADISE LOST and DRACULA YEAR ZERO hit the wall, Proyas is heading home to Australia to helm THE UNPLEASANT PROFESSION for Red Granite Pictures.

Based on the aforementioned Heinlein work, and an apparent heavy influence on the splendid DARK CITY, UNPLEASANT PROFESSION sees the title character unable to recall what exactly his days entail. Upon hiring a married pair of private detectives, Hoag naturally uncovers some darker truths, beginning with "a group of shadowy figures who gravely warn of dire consequences unless the pair immediately cease their inquiry into the nature of Hoag’s identity."

With DARK CITY having a massive effect on my own path and love of film and genre, it's greatly exciting to me to see Proyas take on such a promising prohect. I'd love to see a triumphant return on his part.

Production is looking to start this fall.
