Mike Flanagan, who most recently helmed the solid, eerie missing-persons horror ABSENTIA is gearing up for some technology-laden scares.

Variety reports that the director and the majority of his ABSENTIA cast (Courtney Bell, Katie Parker, Justin Gordon and Morgan Peter Brown) are taking on SCARE DARES, a tale that sees a mobile app that finds hot spots of paranormal activity, lead a group of friends to ruin by way of dark forces and "occult dares."

SCARE DARES will apparently utilize both a classical narrative approach and found footage, and see the creation of a tie-in app. Shooting gets underway later this year.
