As anticipation builds for the new season of AMERICAN HORROR STORY, Ryan Murphy confirms his "returning cast, new characters" talk with some news about Jessica Lange.

Speaking to EW, the NIP/TUCK and GLEE creator explained that not only will the series-stealing Lange be returning to AMERICAN HORROR STORY, but next season will be all hers entirely.

“We have designed the second season of AMERICAN HORROR STORY completely around her character. Last year, Jessica came in with Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott. This will really be the Jessica Lange show so I’m very excited about it. We are designing this amazing new opposite of the Constance character for her. She and I have spoken about different things. She has a lot of ideas, and has a lot of input into her character. She told me some things she has always wanted to play as an actress. She’s a great collaborator and a great friend.”

Lange won plenty of praise (and a Golden Globe) for her huge portrayal of the manipulative, doting aging southern belle Constance Langdon, so her return is surely excellent news. Murphy went on to say he's also bringing back three other actors, but who won't be revealed until tonight's AMERICAN HORROR STORY panel at the annual Paleyfest. Hopefully, one of them is the other, and seemingly underrated, scene stealer of season one, Kate Mara.

Murphy has previously noted the new season will take place in an East Coast horror institution.
