In the grand tradition of competing projects, another tale of Dracula's early days is now on its way.
Deadline reports that Sony Pictures has picked up a period-set pitch from Jason Keller about the origin of the world's most iconic vampire. Beyond that, there aren't many details aside from the intention for this to be first in a series.
This, of course, puts it in competition with Universal's long in-development DRACULA YEAR ZERO, which has been revived for director Gary Shore, since its Alex Proyas incarnation fell apart. Yet another Dracula-oriented film, Jaume Collet-Serra's HARKER, has also had a bit of movement lately with rumors of Russell Crowe in talks. That film positions the title character as an inspector for Scotland Yard, who investigates Dracula's serial murders across England.
