The SHAUN OF THE DEAD director is returning to the monstrous side of things with a Disney-backed big screen take on THE NIGHT STALKER.
Deadline reports that the incredible Edgar Wright, of SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ and SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD fame, will helm THE NIGHT STALKER for Disney, with Johnny Depp starring.
A new adaptation of the 1972 TV film and subsequent series, THE NIGHT STALKER revolves around Carl Kolchak, an investigative journalist who oft encounters a variety of the undead including vampires, werewolves, aliens, etc.
Disney is apparently pushing a PG-13, but with Wright at the helm, what would that matter anyway? He's an exceptional filmmaker (and when he wants to be, Johnny Depp is great, himself) and it's lovely to see him returning to genre, with what could be something ultra fun.
