Following the recent acquisition of Rodrigo Cortés’ RED
LIGHTS by Millennium Films, the fright feature EMERGO, which Cortés wrote and
produced, has also been picked up for U.S. release.
Variety reports that our genre-savvy friends at Magnolia Pictures have grabbed the rights to EMERGO for release under the Magnet Releasing banner. The movie will premiere on VOD April 27, and then hit select theaters June 1. Directed by Spanish feature first-timer Carles Torrens, the English-language EMERGO stars Kai Lennox, Michael O’Keefe, Rick Gonzalez, Fiona Glascott and Gia Mantegna and focuses on a team of parapsychologists checking out spooky phenomena in an old apartment building. Adrián Guerra and Gregoire Melin were also producers on the film, which is set in California but was shot in Barcelona.
