One of the highest-profile genre pics to screen at this year’s Sundance Film Festival has been snapped up for U.S. release following its premiere at the Park City event Friday night.

Variety reports that Millennium Entertainment acquired the Stateside rights to RED LIGHTS, director Rodrigo Cortés’ follow-up to the acclaimed BURIED. The film stars Sigourney Weaver and Cillian Murphy as paranormal debunkers out to expose a psychic (Robert De Niro) they believe is a fraud, and also features Toby Jones, Joely Richardson and SILENT HOUSE’s Elizabeth Olsen (who discussed RED LIGHTS with us here). “We are thrilled with RED LIGHTS and excited to distribute the film,” says Millennium CEO Bill Lee. “This definitely has theatrical potential and we plan to give it a standard theatrical platform release, with ancillaries coming 90-100 days later. We came to Sundance with the intention of buying RED LIGHTS if it was good, and we thought Rodrigo did a fabulous job with the film. UTA was teriffic to deal with, and we’re both thrilled and proud to distribute the film.”
