It’s too bad-ass a concept for one movie, so Scorpio Film
Releasing is sequelizing one of its most popular titles, THE DISCO EXORCIST
(pictured), with THE BROTHER OF THE DISCO EXORCIST. We just got the word on the
movie, which is slated for production this fall.
Once again directed by Richard Griffin, scripted by Fango scribe Tony Nunes and produced by Ted Marr, BROTHER OF THE DISCO EXORCIST is set in the early 1980s and focuses on Roman Romanski (to be played by Jamie Dufault from Griffin’s currently shooting MURDER UNIVERSITY), brother of THE DISCO EXORCIST’s hero Rex Romanski. The plot is being kept under wraps for now, but Scorpio promises that BROTHER will be “a riotous ride of horror/comedy and disco-new-wave sleaze with a punk-tinged chaser. The sequel also promises to take shameful advantage of its 1980s setting and blend bloody, violent horrors with the rampant sexuality of the first film.”
Griffin comments further, “Due to the amazing success of THE DISCO EXORCIST, we have decided to make [Scorpio’s] first sequel. It was really important to us that THE BROTHER OF THE DISCO EXORCIST not be a carbon copy of the original—a mistake many sequels make—but a movie that could truly stand on its own. Tony’s concept for the sequel is so insanely original, I know people will love it even if they haven’t seen the original.” Those who missed the first DISCO EXORCIST on its initial release will have another chance when a new DVD arrives from Wild Eye Releasing later this spring.
