Edgar Allan Poe’s classic horror tale “The Fall of the House of Usher” has inspired any number of filmmakers over the decades, from Roger Corman in the ’60s to David DeCoteau just this year. But only now is the story getting the 3-D cinematic treatment.
Screen Daily reports that Accelerator, a new genre-centric label launched by veteran producer Robbie Little, is gearing up to shoot THE USHERS in Canada. The dimensional chiller will be directed by BOOGEYMAN’s Stephen T. Kay, and will star Claire Forlani (pictured), Rufus Sewell and Dougray Scott and is set in Martha’s Vineyard, where an estate agent pays a visit to a couple of strange siblings/potential clients. Scripted by Gian Marco Masoni, the film is currently set to roll in July. Also on the Accelerator slate is THE CLINIC, which will screen at Cannes next month; feature first-timer James Rabbitts wrote and directed this thriller about a woman who wakes up in a remote clinic and learns that her child has been kidnapped. Tabrett Bethell, Freya Stafford and SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND’s Andy Whitfield star.
