Following THE MUNSTERS' lead, and probably hoping DARK SHADOWS proves popular, it seems the original Nosferatu is coming to television.
Deadline reports that NBC is eyeing a DRACULA series with producers Tony Krantz and Colin Callender and writer Cole Haddon on board. Ordered as a "script-to-series" (no pilot, just a series order if the script is up to par), the show will apparently be set in the 1890s, described as "DANGEROUS LIASIONS meets THE TUDORS and as a big, sweeping international soap opera that is young, sexy and supernatural."
NBC also has the aforementioned THE MUNSTERS and HANNIBAL (a series following the many exploits of Dr. Lecter) on deck. The monster success of series like AMERICAN HORROR STORY (which is totally horror-soapy) and THE WALKING DEAD (which is probably in denial of its super soapy qualities) is likely to blame here, and while it's improbable each new show will be a keeper, a new season of TV littered with genre titles is something to look forward to, for sure.
