Following this weekend's rumors of distribution troubles (refuted below), we now have our first extended look at Tobe Hooper's DJINN.
Movie Sushi, who brought word of the potential blocking of DJINN posted the clip, a fairly lengthy peek into the film (possibly sales intended), which tells of Khaled and Salama, an Emirati couple, returning home from the U.S. only to find the titular forces invading their apartment complex.
Shot in Abu Dhabi, rumors spread over the past few days that a member of the royal family had seen the film and found it to be an unfit representation of UAE. TBreak heard from Imagenation Abu Dhabi, who issued this statemen in response: “These rumours are unfounded. DJINN is in active post-production, and Image Nation looks forward to releasing the film in theatres later this year. As for offers, there have been no formal offers were made for DJINN.”
Movie Sushi is sticking to their initial report in light of the denial. Regardless of circumstances surrounding, it's not hard to see the film doesn't look wholly successful, and more than a little flat.
