Veteran genre actor Michael Biehn stepped behind the camera
to create his own grindhouse-style feature with THE VICTIM, and now the film
has been picked up for U.S. distribution—by a company that’s already in the
Biehn business this month.
Word just came down that Anchor Bay Entertainment has grabbed U.S. rights to THE VICTIM, in which Biehn also stars alongside his real-life partner Jennifer Blanc (who produced the movie) and Danielle Harris. The two actresses play strippers Annie and Mary, who are victimized in the woods by a couple of corrupt cops (Ryan Honey and Denny Kirkwood); fleeing the scene, Annie winds up at the cabin of loner Kyle (Biehn), setting off a chain of violent events. “This is a great grindhouse film and audiences won’t be disappointed,” says Anchor Bay’s Kevin Kasha, and Biehn adds, “From the first day of shooting, I had hoped that Anchor Bay would be interested in THE VICTIM. I’m very happy they will be working with us to distribute it. I loved making such a down-and-dirty film—true grindhouse.”
The Bay is opening THE DIVIDE, in which Biehn co-stars and Blanc has a small role, in limited theatrical play beginning next Friday, January 13. Exact release plans for THE VICTIM have yet to be firmed up, but there will be big-screen engagements handled by Crimson Films’ Stevan Mena (director of BEREAVEMENT—also featuring Biehn) and Vincent Butta, plus a college tour overseen by Hogan Entertainment and Pegasus Productions.
