A film version of Max Brooks’ best-selling novel WORLD WAR Z has been in the works since the book was first published in 2007, but all has been quiet on that front of late. But good news has come down that the project is not, er, dead.
Variety reports that Paramount has renewed its option to make a feature version of Brooks’ tome, which tells the story of the international battle against a zombie plague from the points of view of those who have survived it. All the previously announced key creative principals are still involved: Brad Pitt’s Plan B company is producing, and QUANTUM OF SOLACE’s Marc Forster (pictured) will direct from a script by Matthew Michael Carnahan, who is revising previous drafts by J. Michael Straczynski. Casting and a start date have yet to be announced.
