The horrific web series THROWING STONES, in which a group of high-school students face a deadly detention, was so successful (thanks in part to MTV producers posting episodes on their Facebook pages) that a new season is debuting next month. We got the details, including comments from the creators and the schedule, an exclusive photo and more.

THROWING STONES, created, produced and written by Bart D. Van Bemmel and Jason A. Wheeler, was always intended to continue on past the first round of episodes, and the duo explain, “In season one, you get to know these kids as they try and figure out what the hell is going on in the halls of Blair High. Season two is all about their big plan failing and the audience getting to see that. Whereas the first season was about getting to know the students while focusing more on the psychological elements, the second season moves into full slasher mode. After finally coming together to overcome their differences, the students are violently separated and forced to follow Mr. Beckett’s new set of rules. One by one, he challenges each student’s will to live as he pushes his Broken Window Theory to the test. Their objective is to survive.”

To put the teens and their tormentor through their paces, the duo brought Jon Keeyes on board to direct. Having watched the first season, Keeyes, whose feature credits include AMERICAN NIGHTMARE and FALL DOWN DEAD, tells Fango, “I was really excited by what Bart and Jason put together and the tremendous success the show was having. When they decided to do season two, they asked if I’d be willing to direct it, and I jumped at the chance. The show was already rife with strong characters and an intriguing spin on the nightmare of Saturday school, and when I read the script for season two and saw how they had pushed this from thriller into pure horror, I knew I had to do it.

“The show gave me an opportunity to dig back into my slasher-film background and play in that realm again,” he continues. “Season two is all about the horror, the mayhem and the murder. Mr. Beckett is such a fun villain to direct, and each of the kids’ distinctive personalities created a lot of opportunities to create unique kills and great reactions. Of course, it’s always great to be able to direct strong actors, which we had across the board. I really believe that both fans of the first season and people new to the show are going to love what has been done to make THROWING STONES a standout horror web series.”
