New info came in about this project...
Mary Harron’s 2000 film adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ AMERICAN PSYCHO, starring Christian Bale as murderous Patrick Bateman, is still fondly regarded by genre fans, and the story is headed to the Broadway musical stage (with former Fango scribe Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa writing the book), but now a new feature of the savagely satiric slasher story is in the works.
Variety reports that Noble Jones (pictured) has been signed by Lionsgate to write and direct a new AMERICAN PSYCHO movie, which has nonetheless not yet been officially greenlighted. Jones’ scenario explores how Patrick Bateman deals with living in modern New York City, when his investment-banker job is presumably not nearly as secure as it was back when the novel and first movie came out. A 2nd-unit director on David Fincher’s THE SOCIAL NETWORK, Jones has also directed and served as DP on documentaries, commercials and music videos, but his most pertinent experience is an early gig working as an in-house filmmaker for the New York City Department of Corrections. .
