Fotocomics Productions sent along some exclusive photos from its upcoming supernatural thriller THE GHOSTMAKER, directed by film concept artist Mauro Borelli. Check out the pics and comments from Borrelli and producer Ed Polgardy after the jump.

THE GHOSTMAKER follows a group of college friends as they discover a 15th-century mechanical coffin that allows them to experience the world as ghosts. Originally titled BOX OF SHADOWS, the movie stars J. Walter Holland, Jared Grey and Aaron Dean Eisenberg (left to right in 2nd photo below), Liz Fenning (3rd photo with Holland) and Domiziano Arcangel. Also pictured here is one of the film’s primary villains, a mechanical incarnation of the Grim Reaper. “Ed and I have been big fans of FANGORIA since we were kids,” Borrelli says. “So when Michael Gingold asked us to send some exclusive images, I quickly gathered these never-before-seen pictures from our files.”

“We worked long and hard to give genre fans something interesting and unique on screen,” Polgardy tells us. “And that wasn’t easy for an effects movie on a modest budget. There are over 300 visual-effects shots in the picture, and we wanted to maintain the high level of excellence that Mauro is known for in his concept work on bigger-budgeted films.” Among Borrelli’s credits in that capacity are BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA, SLEEPY HOLLOW, PLANET OF THE APES, the second and third PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN movies, THE WOLFMAN and the upcoming DARK SHADOWS. Polgardy has been a producer and 2nd-unit director on such fright features as Robert Hall’s LAID TO REST and Darin Scott’s DARK HOUSE.

“We’re proud of what we accomplished in this movie,” Polgardy says. “Charles Bornstein, editor on John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN and THE FOG, cut THE GHOSTMAKER, and Christopher Young, who has scored numerous seminal horror films including HELLRAISER and THE GRUDGE, composed our main theme and coffin music.
