Manhattan is under supernatural siege yet again, although it'll be much "darker" and "grittier" than a giant marshmallow man.
Heat Vision reports that Legendary Pictures is getting behind SPECTRAL, Ian Fried's tale of a special ops troop trained in fighting the paranormal and the apparitions that have attacked New York City. The film is described as GHOSTBUSTERS-esque, but the words darker, gritty and more serious are used, so it probably keeps it way realer, as well.
Fried has also penned two other high profile genre scripts currently gaining buzz: GASLIGHT, a period serial killer story featuring Florence Nighingale and Jack the Ripper, and THE EVER AFTER MURDERS, which sees iconic fable characters Tom Thumb and Rachel Riding on the trail of a murderer.
