Universal’s prequel to John Carpenter’s THE THING is now lensing, and another name has been added to a cast that includes BLACK CHRISTMAS’ Mary Elizabeth Winstead, ACOLYTES’ Joel Edgerton and REEKER’s Eric Christian Olsen.

IMDb reports that LAND OF THE DEAD’s Jonathan Walker has joined the Antarctic team that discovers an alien ship in the ice—and accidentally releases the deadly shapeshifting extraterrestrial organism inside. Matthijs Van Heijningen is directing the film inspired by John Campbell’s classic short story.
