In the tradition of fictionalizing real-life figures into the adventurous tanglers-with-death they weren't, Robert Zemeckis is shepherding an adaptation of Dark Horse Comics' tales of early twentieth century paranormal researcher Charles Fort to cinemas.
Based on Dark Horse's FORT: PROPHET OF THE UNEXPLAINED, which took author and investigator of anomalous pheonomena Charles Fort and posited him as one who battles the forces he researches, CHARLES FORT is expected to be a sort of "period GHOSTBUSTERS" as The Hollywood Reporter explains, and I eat up.
Fort penned THE BOOK OF THE DAMNED, WILD TALENTS and NEW LANDS, all of which concerned the possible existence of supernatural anomalies, and as Wikipedia tells me, is also credited with coining the term "teleportation"
Screenwriter Evan Spiliotopoulos is on the job. His past credits include a slew of DTV Disney sequels and the upcoming Kristen Stewart-vehicle SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN. My idea this film could be tons of fun has been severely cut down.
