Fango got the scoop on what you can expect from the DVD releases of a couple of ambitious independent horror features. James Felix McKenney informed us of the extras and a street date for BURNING INSIDE, from his new Channel Midnight company, while Cinema Epoch sent along the full skinny on SEA OF DUST (pictured), featuring Tom Savini.

The first release from Channel Midnight, which McKenney previously discussed with us here, BURNING INSIDE was written and directed by Nathan Wrann and stars his brother Michael as an amnesiac John Doe on a violent revenge spree. The DVD streets May 11, and the movie (shot in both color and black and white) will be accompanied by a 68-minute, 12-part documentary covering the cast, crew and FX, plus trailers for BURNING as well as McKenney’s CANNIBALLISTIC! (also coming on a new disc from Channel Midnight) and SATAN HATES YOU. The DVD can be pre-ordered for $19.95 from the Channel Midnight website.

SEA OF DUST, from writer/director Scott Bunt, is a homage to Hammer period chillers in which Savini plays Prester John, an evil king who has taken over a village with the help of his disciple Anna (Hammer veteran Ingrid Pitt). The cast also includes Troy Holland, Bill Timoney, Edward X. Young and SINS OF THE FATHER’s Pete Barker, and the disc, which Cinema Epoch releases August 10, will include the following extras:

• Audio commentary

• Documentary

• Deleted scenes

• Slideshow

• Trailers

Retail price is $24.98.
