John Malkovich (pictured right) is in final negotiations to join the cast of Summit Entertainment’s zombie picture WARM BODIES.

Variety reports that the JONAH HEX actor will play General Grigio, a military man who’s obsessed with the destruction of the zombie threat. Based on the book by Isaac Marion, WARM BODIES follows a zombie named “R” who becomes involved with the girlfriend of one of his victims, which then starts a chain reaction that will transform him, his fellow zombies and maybe the whole undead world. Jonathan Levine (whose 50/50 opens later this month) is writing and directing the film, which also stars Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer and Rob Corddry.
