With the knockout horror/comedy TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL
finally ending its long trip to U.S. distribution today (debuting on VOD, with
theatrical release to follow September 30, from Magnolia Pictures' Magnet Releasing), the time seemed right to check in
with director/co-writer Eli Craig about what’s next…and whether it might
involve further adventures of his good ol’ boy heroes.
As it turns out, that’s a distinct possibility, but first, Craig is planning to literally kid around in his follow-up feature. “I can’t resist working on another horror/comedy right now,” he tells Fango, “and I’m trying to get backing for my version of the devil-child movies: THE OMEN, THE EXORCIST, etc. It doesn’t seem like it could be funny, but I promise it is. I hope I can get that financed.”
And the good news is, “I’d also be down for sending Tucker and Dale to Yale for more mayhem. Dale does deserve an education after all these years, and Tucker would love hanging with some hot/well-educated college girls. Oh, the carnage that would ensue; it could start World War III…or IV if it takes that long.” We hope to have updates on Craig’s next effort very soon, and in the meantime see our review of TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL here, an exclusive TV spot and list of theaters here and the movie’s official website here.
