CELEBRITY JUDGE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Known as one of the top scream queens in horror films today, Felissa Rose has been named a judge for the 2011 Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival® . Felissa is the first performer named to the 2011 festival jury. She joins producer/director Tom DeSanto, film composer Harry Manfredini and special effects makeup wizards Michael Westmore and Mark Shostrom.

Rose is perhaps best known for her work in the cult classic SLEEPAWAY CAMP franchise, which she began at age 13, playing transsexual murderer Angela Baker in the original film (1983). She reprised the role for RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP (2006) and is currently in production on SLEEPAWAY CAMP REUNION . She also appeared in Ford Austin’s DAHMER VS. GACY (2011), which screened at the 2010 festival. A veteran of more than 50 films, she is a staple in the horror genre both as victim and villain. Rose has also contributed to the acclaimed documentaries GOING TO PIECES: THE RISE AND FALL OF THE SLASHER FILM (2006), HIS NAME WAS JASON (2009), and SOMETHING TO SCREAM ABOUT (2003). She travels the country signing autographs for her loyal fans and is now producing her own horror films.

“Felissa is revered by fans for her iconic, jaw-dropping twist-to-end-all twists role in the horror classic SLEEPAWAY CAMP ,” said Christopher Gaida, the festival’s Director of Programming. “But it's her lifelong love for, and respect of, the horror genre that makes her an ideal choice to join our great panel of judges".

Founded in 2009, the Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival® is held annually in the mountains of Big Bear Lake, CA, to recognize excellence in the film genres of horror and science fiction. This year’s festival is scheduled for September 30th – October 2. Film submission deadlines have passed, but tickets are available for purchase for the three-day event.
