Director Jonathan Demme won an Oscar for bringing Thomas
Harris’ THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS to the screen, and now he’s tackling a tome by
another horror heavy hitter, Stephen King.
Variety reports that Demme has optioned the movie rights to King’s upcoming novel 11/22/63 for his Clinica Estetico banner. He’ll write, direct and produce an adaptation of the book (set for publication November 8 by Scribner), in which a Maine high-school teacher travels back in time to attempt to stop the assassination of John F. Kennedy. King is on board the project as an executive producer, while Ilona Herzberg will produce; no distributor has yet come aboard the film, which Demme plans to begin shooting in fall 2012.
